After much effort I found the original obituary in the basement of the old courthouse. I was fortunate to find an original newspaper with this obituary on it. This newspaper was dated Oct 1st 1897 and called the North West Tribune. Although the cemetery records do not include her as buried there it states clearly in the article that she was buried there.

Mrs. Cynthia Burch, aged 90 years to a day, died of paralysis at the home of her son, V. Burch, on Burnt Fork, at 3pm on Tuesday, September 28th, 1897. She received the first paralytic stroke on the 17th day of August 1896, and the second stroke on August 28th, 1897, and was laid to rest in Maplewood cemetery at 4pm September 29th, 1897, Rev. M. L. Rickman, of Hamilton, officiating, four generations composing the mourners.
Mrs. Burch, whose maiden name was Cynthia Cobb, was born in Kanawah county, West Virginia, on Sept, 28th 1807, and graduated at the female seminary at Charlestown, West Virginia, in 1822, and married Mr. John Burch in 1823, and emigrated from Charlston to Marion county, Missouri, in May 1827, where Mr. Burch died in September 1849. Seven children blessed this uinion, four whom are living- Richard M. in Colorado; John A. C. on the West Fork of Bitter Root; Vincent Burch of Burnt Fork; Nancy E. Vance, of Hamilton, all whom together with grand, great grand, and great great grand children are left to mourn her loss.
Mrs. Burch came to Montana in October, 1884 and made her home with Vincent Burch the last ten years of her life.
Mrs. Burch was a devout christian, having joined the old Ironside Providence Baptist church in 1843 in Warren Township, Marion county, Missouri.
The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their hour of sad affliction.


A rich and long life for an early pioneer Virginia, Missouri and Montana.

CRAWFORD, HAZEL M. 80, of 123-A Wyoming St. Charleston died Sept. 10, 1992 in General Division CAMC after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Amona Sunday School Class. Surviving, husband, George M. Crawford, sons, daughter
(living) Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. John D. Harlan officiating. Burial will be in Winfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m today at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home.
