Rites Tomorrow
For Hiley Cobb

Funeral services for Hiley Cobb, former Hopkinsville assistant police chief and county patrolman, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Keightley Funeral Home.

Mr. Cobb, 69, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 2:15 yesterday afternoon at his home on N. Main St. He had been in declining health several months.
County Judge James E. Higgins announced that the Christian County courthouse will close at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow to permit county employees to attend the funeral.

A native and life-long resident of Christian County, Mr. Cobb served eight years as assistant police chief here. Ill health forced his retirement last July as a county patrolman after completing six years in the post.

For several years he was engaged in the retail coal business here in association with his brother Walter H Cobb. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Cobb was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and long active in the American Legion.

The veteran local law enforcement officer was a member of Ninth Street Christian Church and was a member of Woodman of the World.

Mr. Cobb was born Oct. 5, 1888, the son of the late John G. and Nancy Page Cobb. On July 23, 19I9, he married the former Ella Carter, who survives him.
Officiating at the services tomorrow will be his pastor, the Rev. Harry M. Davis. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Surviving, besides his wife and brother. are a son, Maj. Hiley Cobb, Jr., Montgomery, Ala.; two granddaughters, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Elbert (Buck) Jenkins, W. E. Rogers, Robert Tandy, Herman King, J. B. (Dick) Cowherd, and Carter King.
