Funeral services were conducted a 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Miner Switch Baptist Church.

James' wife, Nancy was the daughter or Uriah Monroe and Eliza Wallace Abernathy of Pocahontas, MO. Nancy and James one daughter Carry and 3 sons Cyrus, Elva Monroe and Minar. Only found Cyrus and Elva. No record of Nancy after the 1910 census.

Mary's father died January 25, 1826 in Campbell County, Virginia. Her father, by will, gave Mary 1/7th of his estate following the death of Mary's mom. He also loaned a Negro girl, Viley, to Mary. He requested that Mary return Viley and any of Viley's children to the estate once Mary's mom died so that Viley would be considered part of the estate. The following is from a paper on file at the Morgan County Genealogical Society. I do not know who the source is who has the following marriage bond or consent to marry. Does anyone have the document of concent to marry and the marriage bond? The lines follow.
There were evidently problems with the probate of William Key's will. William had named two of his sons, John and Martin, to be executors of the will. However, the two sons refused to qualify as such. Perhaps William Key had foreseen a problem. In the will he had given William Tillis Cobbs $103.50 to make sure that the will was carried out as stated. The above sum was not to be subtracted from the 1/7th of their inheritance. So William Whitlow, William T. Cobb and David Marshall were administrators of the estate.

"The Mary Key who married William T. Cobbs who was born 29 October 1785 and
died 17 July 1846. She married William T. Cobbs on 22 Dec 1819. (I have a
copy of this marriage bond signed by William T. Cobbs and witnessed by John
Alexander and Robert Key as well as the document of consent to marry signed by
William Key, her father and witnessed by Charles Cobbs, John B. Cobbs and
Robert Key.) The marriage took place in Campbell County, VA. It is believed
this is at least the second marriage, if not the third, of this particular
William T. Cobbs".
