Fred, 85, passed away Jan. 20, 1984. Born in Montague County TX, came to Okla. Territory in 1900. He had lived in Lawton, Duncan, Muskogee, McAlester, and was a 32 year resident of Norman before moving to OKC in 1956. Graduated from University of Okla. with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, 1923. While there, he was a member of the track team. He held OU school record for the mile run, half mile run, & thousand yard run, the later record being held over 25 years. Member of First Baptist Church of OKC, life member of OU Alumni Assn, member of OU Lettermen's Club. Fred was a consulting engineer from 1921 until retirement in 1963, having performed engineering for Okla. Dept. of Transportation, Norman, Cleveland County, Yukon, Lindsay, Wato nga, Lexington, McAlester, Lawton, Muskogee, Public Works Administration, Works Progress Administration, OKC, Altus AFB, Kerr-McGee Oil Co, Sand Springs, Okla. Turnpike Authority, & many others. He was Chairman of the Board of the Cobb Engineering Co. & a Registeed Professional Engineer in Okla. since 1935. He was an Army veteran of WWI & an officer in the 45th Div., having organized the 120th Engineers Co. in Norman. Survived by wife of 60 years, Katie of the home; sons, Fred Jr., Lawton; Robert H. & James D. of OKC; J. Ray, Los Gatos CA; daughter, Nancy Fisher of Albuquerque NM; sister, Lois Holbrook, San Diego; 11 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Roy D. The family suggests memorials be made to the Lottie Moon Chris tmas Offering or Baptist Children's Home through the First Baptist Church of OKC. Services 2pm Mon, First Baptist Church Chapel of OKC, graveside services 4pm, IOOF Cemetery, Norman. See, Katie above?
