Dear BJ, I cannot say that I have had questions about the correct Sarah
being maried to Samuel Cobb 2nd, but I will list the preponderance of
evidence which I have, and I do believe is correct:

1, I found no will for Samuel, but an inventory from Chesterfield County,
much after his death-1802-no proof here
2. The Jeters were in Amelia county early probably knowing the Cobbs
3.John L Cobbs signed marriage of Sarah Cobb and Caleb Jeter, and states that
Samuel Cobb, father of Sarah is deceased
4. Sarah Cobb Jeter had two children named Henry Munford Jeter and Cynthia
Cobbs Jeter
5. All legal papers signed by Sarah were signed Sarah M. Jeter-could her
middle name have been Munford?
6. Tombstone of Sarah lists her as Sarah M. Jeter, as does her will.
7. On deed when Sarah was selling tavern in Raleigh after Caleb's death,
Thomas Cobb, signed with her. When Sarah moved to Alabama with her children,
Thomas Cobb also moved. I believe he was her brother.
8. DAR papers, which are no always conclusive, but with these other facts
this is just addtional evidence
9. Sarah continued to run the tavern in Raleigh after Caleb, and she did so
because Cobbs had had taverns before.

I know none of this is actual proof, but as I said I thinkg this is one of these situations where we look at preponderance of evidence. Just last week I went to see Sarah's grave in Gainesville, AL. I would be interested to what proof you have about the other husband.
Of course you are welcome to add this to your database, and hope that we can get together in Texas this summer.
